LIPOSUCTION

Also called liposculpture or lipoplasty and it consists in the removal of fatty deposits in specific areas of the body that are generally hard to handle with exercise and diet.

Pre-op Consultation

Candidates 

Per general rule, this procedure can be performed on healthy adults that have realistic objectives and expectations so that the following considerations are taken into account to guarantee the best outcome possible:

Liposuction is contraindicated when being under the following circumstances:

3. Cardiopulmonary diseases

Risks and safety information 

Even though it can be considered as a simple procedure by many, big amounts of liposuction can particularly end up with complications for which it can only be performed by surgeons properly trained.

Main complications occur on 3 different intervals of time that have to be taken into account:

- Immediate post-surgical interval (0 to 48 hours):

Hemorrhage, Hypothermia.

- Early post-surgical interval (1 to 7 days after):

Seroma, infection, necrosis or skin tissue loss, profound vein thrombosis, thromboembolism.

- Late post-surgical interval (1 week to 3 months after):

Deformity, late seroma, unfavorable cicatrization, sensitivity alteration.

In some cases it can be recommended to perform this procedure in conjunction with others to promote the correction of the excessive skin and flaccidity as well as the collection of the same fat to use it to improve or correct other areas of the body such as the breast and gluteal area. Procedure

Prior surgery, the marking of the body areas you are interested in assessing with liposuction,

will take place in the hospital room, in complete privacy and with the sureness of getting to

Generally, the patient is hospitalized for 24 hours after surgery for a better analgesic control and to keep a close look on you so that we recommend you to have a light bag ready with a change of comfortable clothes that zips up or buttons in the front, personal items, comfortable shoes or slippers and someone to be by your side to assist you during your recovery.

At your discharge you will be given the following:

- Detailed instructions for the after care at home.

- A post-op oral medication prescription as needed.

- The contact information to reach us easily in case you have any question or concern.

Recovery

Right after surgery

You will have a bandage over the surgical area the one will be constantly supervised by the nurse staff. It is normal to have light to moderate pain the one is handled with medication. Anti- thrombotic safety actions will still be taken.

Before you get discharged you will get the dressings and bandages changed, wound curing, a change of gauzes and a stabilizer post-surgical compression garment will be put on for safeness and comfort. 

1st week after surgery

After one week the first follow up consultation takes place, sutures will be removed if present, you will still have ecchymosis or bruising zones, moderate to minimal pain handled with pain killers with no problem. It is recommended to start lymphatic massage sessions. You can go back to work activities in general but it is recommended to avoid the gym for 2 more weeks. 

2nd week after surgery

Generally, in better conditions with 70% of the bruising gone but still slightly sensitive, the edema and swelling has gone down substantially too by now. 

3rd and 4th week after surgery

A satisfactory recovery to resume usual everyday domestic activities and light workout at the gym.

Bruising almost completely gone. Scars are generally loosening between the own natural lines and folds of the body, these are permanent but in most cases they fade and improve with time.

6 months after surgery

Swelling and edema gone down completely and with the final outcome almost apparent but if it is combined with a healthier life style, diet and exercise the improvement is even more evident.

ABDOMINOPLASTY (Tummy Tuck)

Risks and safety information   

Patients must expect pain, numbness, bruising, general fatigue and general discomfort due to an increment of the abdominal tension.

Main complications are:

- Seroma

Procedure

Incision
